FIGHTS in CORD over 2017 Presidential Flag Bearer, A BETRAYAL of VOTERS Trust in Principals

Date:

By Michah Kigen

 The ongoing verbal duel and “political divorce” threatening jostling within the CORD coalition over who to be the Presidential Flag bearer for 2017 is a major betrayal of Kenyan voters and must be condemned by all Kenyans of good will.

 Majority of Kenyans are fed up with the current Uhuruto (Jubilee) regime which has made rampant corruption in the public sector, negative ethnicity, non-accountability and dictatorship the way of life. For some time now Kenyans had banked their hopes on the unity of the opposition CORD to face Jubilee as a united force of the opressed citizenry to kick them out of power come 2017 general elections.

 It hurts very painfully that the people’s hoped for solution (Cord) is fast degenerating into a problem. Any catalysts of integration in the opposition to break the bond between: Raila Odinga (ODM), Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper Democratic Movement) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) must be public enemy number one.

 It behooves upon the three Cord Principals to mutually agree on a democratic formula for settling on the flag bearer, his running mate and a befitting role for the third principal without causing friction within the support base. So far the people are united behind them and are looking up to them to offer leadership and the way forward. Their resorting to infighting and daring each other is betrayal of the innocent majority who want Jubilee out of power urgently.

 The push for flag bearer should not be allowed to divide opposition supporters. Hence it should be canvassed discreetly in camera by the three Cord Principals without creating anxiety among the followers.
