Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been handed a big blow after MCAs rejected his nominees for the County Public Service Board.
The six candidates were vetted before they were rejected after Obado nominated them to take over the posts.
The nominees are; former Awendo MP Jared Kopiyo (chairperson), Mwita Range Maroa, Omwa Hesbon Otieno, Enock Odhiambo Ochieng, Jemima Adhiambo Were and Kennedy Ochieng Makasembo.
According to Christopher Onanda, who is the County Assembly Labour and Social Welfare Committee Chairman, the nominees didn’t meet the requirements to serve on the board as proposed by Obado.
All the nominees were unanimously rejected after the county boss presented them to the House.
“The members said there was no regional balance and diversity in profession,” said Onanda.
The governor is now walking a tightrope after the rejection of his nominees. He is now expected to go back to the drawing board and nominate new members.
The new development comes after members of the Luhya community living in Migori sought legal redress over the list of the nominees. They accused Obado of being biased during the nomination process.
