A section of leaders from the Meru community on Sunday pledged their support for Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential ambitions ahead of the upcoming 2022 general elections.
Speaking at Gikumene Secondary School in Meru County during a church function, the politicians who had accompanied Ruto for the fundraiser vowed to stand with him.
The politicians led by Imenti North lawmaker Rahim Dawood, dismissed claims that Ruto was being blocked from visiting the county.
“The claims that some Meru politicians tried to stop the DP from coming to Meru are untrue,” Dawood said.
Imenti Central’s Moses Kirima on his part ‘prophesied’ DP Ruto’s rise to the presidency.
“Besides being a politician, I am also a pastor in the AIPCA Church. My tongue has slipped and called you president. I assure you that it is not a slip of the tongue but a prophecy and a sign that angels are backing you,” Kirima said.
Former Tigania East legislator Mpuru Apuri further assured Ruto that President Uhuru Kenyatta will support his bid when 2022 comes.
“When you campaigned ahead of the 2017 elections, the President told us that he would support you for 10 years,” Apuri reassured the DP.
