Final Day of the Kipchumba Karori International Volleyball Tournament 2024.
In a day marked with some serious action at the Eldoret National Polytechnic, the DCI Queens vehemently engaged the giant KCB bank team in a sensational pitch battle that brought to a close three days of competition for the Kipchumba Kalori Cup.
The spectacular showdown saw the energized finalists engage in four sets, ending in favour of the KCB team with the detectives settling for an impressive first runners-up position. Donning their KCB jerseys, the polished ladies showcased their fashion and style at their ground of choice, roaring their way to beat our gentle Queens in the first two sets.
But to deny the Bankers a smooth day in office, the Sleuths revved past with the third set, stubbornly pushing for a fourth set. In the end, the grand price of Sh500,000 went back to a familiar territory, KCB bank.
Having put a great fight, the DCI equally received the first runners-up trophy and a Sh300,000 bonus. Also feated were Sharon Jeruto and Constable Mercy Iminza, who received the prestigious Best Outside Hitter and Best Opposite Hitter awards respectively.
While rejoicing in their new found glory at the sidelines of the event, the Queens promised to work harder towards scaling to the top spot in the next tournament.
Team Captain Jane Mumbua has attributed this season’s achievement to the immense support from the office of the Director DCI, through their Team Manager Inspector Neddy Kilimo and their dedicated coaches.
