It is now emerging that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair who is paid hundrends of millions for ‘advising’ President Uhuru on governance and ‘service delivery’, may be knee-deep in the Eurobond scandal.
Mr Blair who secured his top assignment for Uhuru in 2014 had ealier approached the coalition government BUT both Kibaki and Raila dismissed his service as useless with no meaningful add value to Kenyan Tax payers.
Here is how the Story is told of Blair and his business with Kenya government;
Mr. Blair approached Mr. Odinga to set up a ‘delivery unit’ for the grand coalition government.
In the middle of his presentation on how the delivery unit would help Kenya, Mr. Odinga, the ever intelligent man, ‘dozed off’. He woke up just before Mr. Blair closed up the PowerPoint show and said he will look into it. That was the end of it.
Mr. Blair never got a chance to see the dream of his ‘delivery unit’ achieved in Kenya during the grand coalition government. It turns he had pitched the same idea to President Kibaki who, knowing Raila had rebuffed him, also became hesitant to work with Blair.
A lot has been said how Raila and Kibaki were antagonistic but with hindsight now, many Kenyans appreciate the two leaders’ ability to ‘agree to disagree’ moved the nation forward. There are many fundamental things that Kibaki and Raila agreed on on principle. Rejecting Tony Blair’s so called ‘delivery unit’ was one of them. But I digress.
Blair, disappointed, hang around until opportunity came with the election of President Uhuru and his Deputy, William Ruto in 2013.
Uhuru and Ruto started their rule with an international reputational baggage: the two were already confirmed crimes against humanity suspects. Uhuru needed international acceptance (as an innocent person) and recognition (as a duly elected head of state). Tony Blair needed business – the kind that would give him the sort of money he had promised his wife Cherie. Moreover, he also needed an opportunity to finally extract ‘revenge’ from Kibaki and Raila.
He approached Uhuru men, and soon was hobnobbing with Uhuru; a man who had run a successful anti-west hatemongering campaign ever witnessed in post-independent Kenya.
As usual, Uhuru supporters chew cud as they watched the unraveling of a western puppet right in their eyes. And the last four years, we’ve witnessed the rule of a man so dark in his skin but so white in his priorities.
Blair, through his African Governance Initiative (AGI) got to set up his presidential delivery unit, complete with white staff and white mannerisms. Uhuru got to globe trot the West, shore up his ‘criminal’ image and something more.
Blair, it turned out, was also the poster boy for JP Morgan, the US bank at the centre of the EUROBOND money-laundering.
Blair introduced JP Morgan to Uhuru and together, the two executed the Eurobond. Britain, knowing well the damage Blair, an ex-UK premier, had caused in Kenya’s war on graft, quickly recalled their High Commissioner and brought in a new ambassador.
As we fought to get our money back, Blair’s AGI and BTP Advisers – Uhuru’s 2013 elections PR (all white) – – did all they could to make what is perhaps the biggest scam since the sham trial of Dedan Kimathi pass away quietly in Kenya. The western press, especially the British media, picked only bits of it, leaving us to square it on our own meagre devices.
Interestingly, when Blair attempted to sell the same ‘delivery unit’ dishwater to President Buhari, he rebuffed him Odinga-Kibaki style.
But here in Kenya, the delivery unit was set up in a pompous ceremony where Blair and Uhuru walked side by side from Harambee House to KICC and back. A Safaricom staffer, one Nzioka Waita, would be put in charge of the outfit and bequeathed with an outlandish title – Secretary for Delivery.
To date, while it is now known that Blair was paid millions of shillings to shit on us, no single Mpig has ever asked in parliament how much, followed by what value, we received from the AGI fuckery. Blair continues to hobnob with Uhuru; Uhuru continues to subdue the earth and the spectacle continues to unravel right infront of us, week after week, trip after trip.
In a book on Blair being serialized on UK’s Daily Mail, snapshots of which I’ll share with you, the extent of Tony Blair’s dealings with world despots and corrupt rulers is mind boggling.
The campaign to kick Blair out of Kenya should have started long time ago.
Deep.
