Thursday was was a big day for cable news as they were given 2012 Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s much-anticipated anti-Donald Trump speech and the inevitable Trump response. Romney started off the proceedings first with an address in Utah in which he ran down The Donald, pointing out how unfit he was for the country and the Republican Party. He even released excerpts of the speech to the press beforehand so they could have their stories ready to go as soon as he was done.
Following Romney’s attempt to slow the Trump tide, the three major cable new networks then spent about an hour dissecting and discussing his comments, deciding if it will have any effect on Trump’s campaign. (It won’t.) Then, all eyes were turned to Portland, Maine, where the GOP frontrunner and Chris Christie hostage taker appeared at a campaign rally to respond to the Mittster (i.e. throw out a bunch of insults).
And Trump didn’t disappoint. Almost immediately, he decided to humiliate Romney by insinuating that the former Massachusetts Governor would have provided him with a hummer in exchange for a prized Trump endorsement.
Donald Trump: “I could have said ‘Mitt, drop to your knees.’ He would have dropped to his knees.”
As of publication, Trump was still rambling on, throwing myriad taunts poor Mitt’s way. At one point, he talked about how rich he was in comparison to Romney, how big of a loser Mitt is and all of the standard Trumpisms.
Remember, this man has a very good chance to be the leader of the free world. Be afraid. Be very, very, very afraid. This is no longer a joke
