A six storey building in Huruma on Friday night collapsed killing eight people. Red Cross and NYS teams managed to rescue a baby while an unknown number of people are still believed to have been trapped inside. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
A spot check at KNH confirms that 58 people were brought in, 30 of them treated and discharged, 3 admitted with various injuries while others were on various stages of treatment xrays, CT Scans etc.
Elsewhere a seven storey building also collapsed in Mathare, number of casualties still unknown. Emergency response teams have sighted lack of necessary equipment as a major hindrance hampering rescue efforts.
