Raila’s calls for National Dialogue when he arrived from the US sabbatical has gotten a notch higher with diplomats and the church now joining in the choruses to have IEBC disbanded through National Dialogue. And even though their language was guarded, it was clear to the keen watchers that The diplomats have warned Jubilee against teargassing wananchi instead of engaging in dialogue with the Opposition CORD in a more dignified forum.
The protests have achieved the goal for which it was intended and now the international community is piling pressure on Jubilee to talk to the opposition to avert national anarchy.
And Raila is the biggest winner, as the there is consensus even among major world powers that IEBC has to be replaced. And the writing is on the wall for Jubilee, they either join CORD on the table of dialogue, or the international community will do what they have always wanted to do, which is impose sanctions on Jubilee’s top leadership.
Sanctions would for sure affect Uhuru and Ruto’s businesses which include Commercial Bank of Africa, Brookside, Railply etc
Thanks to the protests, its only a matter of when not if IEBC commissioners will feel Raila’s wrath, as they get forced out. Raila fired Waiguru. He will fire IEBC commissioners, and then fire Uhuru in 2017. By now you know who makes the decisions that matter for this government. When he coughs, things move. The entire diplomatic corp catches cold.
CORD is right on script in its program of forcing the IEBC out of office. And then we will wrangle about the names, and only agree on those names close in time. If this fails, then Raila wil not have an option but to name a parallel list of IEBC commissioners. But if we reach that point, Jubilee will be staring at sanctions, so this battle is won. Its over. CORD is the winner. Jubilee is outsmarted.
