Nairobi senator Mike Sonko has asked DP William Ruto not to be duped to support water CS Eugene Wamalwa for Nairobi governor’s seat in 2017.
Sonko said Ruto will suffer unspecified “political repercussions” if he backs Wamalwa for the seat, currently held by governor Evans Kidero.
He was speaking at Reresik, Kericho sub-county during a home coming party for a cancer patient BABY Scandary Chelangat, whom he helped to get treatment in India after suffering from eye cancer.
Sonko accused some politicians of misleading the Ruto adding “if he was elected the next governor he would increase Ruto’s chances of becoming the President in 2022”.
“My candidature as Nairobi governor has high chance of seeing DP Ruto clinch the presidential seat in 2022 election and no any other candidate,” he said
Sonko accused governor Kidero of swindling county funds, adding that the recent opinion polls which rated him at the top were insincere.
He was accompanied by Kericho governor Paul Chepkwony and Ainamoi MP Benjamin Langat.
Business in Kericho came to a stand still as locals forced Sonko’s convoy to make several stops to address massive crowds
