Uhuru and the MEAT – Raila and the PEOPLE
By The Banana Peddler
Presiident Uhuru Kenyatta does not believe his time is up. In spite of the warnings, he continues his wantonness of in government.
I want to remind him that come August 8 2017, Kenyans will thunder a big “NO”. On that day, the presidential candidate of the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy, Raila Odinga will sweep the polls in an unprecedented manner. Kenyans will never forget how their President mocked them at Ntimama’s funeral. They are no fools after all.
The electorate will unequivocally reject him at the polls as a sure payback for eating their meat while they salivate in desperation.
Sadly, the behemoth had in his surfeit of power, bellicosely proclaimed that Jubilee would rule the country for the next 20 years. Now that the election will be due in August 2017, Uhuru has sensed defeat and is trying to postpone his evil day for six weeks.
He and his deputy are rolling out billions of Eurobonds ostensibly to confuse and buy voters. Fortunately, the Eurobonds he is throwing around the country cannot erase his non-performance and refusal to use the nation’s wealth for the benefit of the people since 2013.
Kenyans will simply vote and boot this President out. On that day the sophisticated sons and daughters will rise in unison and amply demonstrate that they are not unaware of the impunity infested in this regime. This President never cares about Kenyans. Rather, he takes them for granted. All efforts by the opposition to get Kenyans back on the smooth track of good governance have perilously derailed and fell on deaf ears.
For the opposition political parties in Kenya, August 8 2017 represents a glorious chapter in the annals of their struggle to make life more abundant for the people. For Raila, it will be sweet victory. His disappointments have been many. But this victory will surely assuage all that. He will be a case study that with determination, hard work and prayers one can attain the impossible.
Baba will equally demonstrate that preparation meeting opportunity is the true definition of luck and not luck conferred by accident of a nomenclature.
At the ballot, Baba will eliminate chance from the act of political re-engineering. In the place of luck and chance he will substitute resilience, doggedness, vision, proper strategy and action. As they say: “The harder the fight, the sweeter the victory.” His victory will signpost the triumph of the people over ineptitude, cluelessness, bad governance, impunity and brazen corruption by those elected to serve.
I sincerely believe that the broom revolution will redefine this nation for good. Odinga with his pedigree of integrity, courage and vision cannot but take this nation to greater heights and make Kenyan citizens respected and admired once again in the comity of nations. He has left no one in doubt that he is ready to tackle the myriads of problems besetting this country which Jubilee has glossed over for years.
As Raila and CORD prepare to assume leadership, the challenge of insurgency, corruption, joblessness, high cost of petroleum products, opacity in the oil sector, kidnapping and armed robbery must be vigorously tackled. Nothing must be left to chance. The stars in CORD must be appropriately deployed to begin the hard work of restoring the dignity of our country. Square pegs must of necessity find accommodation in square holes. Everything must be done with decorum, finesse, justice, equity and fairness.
Appointment of Cabinet Secretaries and other heads of key departments and agencies of government must of necessity be unveiled immediately after Raila is inaugurated. This I believe will enable the party to hit the ground running in its efforts to revamp and grow the nation’s fortunes.
Any time wasted in that exercise will amount to a minus which the broom revolution can ill afford. CORD is known for masterstroke strategies and not sloppiness. It must not only continue in its sterling tradition of excellence but improve on it. Whether we like it or not, the electorate is waiting to see the change in stock for them in the new administration. We cannot afford to disappoint them.
The broom revolution being a product of mass support must of necessity operate a policy of love towards all and malice towards none. This is why I expect Raila in his speech which if all goes well I might write, to say “I shall work for those who voted for me as well as those who voted against me and even for those who did not vote at all.”
In the same vein, ours must in no way be a government of vendetta. What God will do through the people on August 8 cannot be equaled or surpassed by the retributive acts of men. The new dawn must be a new dawn indeed – guided by the rule of law. The new government must be a truly national government in outlook and functionality.
Kenyans have suffered enough and CORD government must get to work in earnest to remove the Jubilee yoke from their backs. Let the burden be lifted so the people can rejoice. The time of mourning under Jubilee will be over for good. It will be time to rejoice because the righteous will now bear rule.
Under Raila, the civil service must be reinvigorated to be alive to its responsibilities. That way, the era of no work but plenty pay must be ended. The nation’s workforce in the civil service must be seen to be a force at work for good in this country. The dwindling prices of commodities must not tempt the new government to attempt to right-size or down-size.
The rules of competence and appropriateness must be observed in such a way that those who have been earning pay for free will be taken care of administratively. The broom revolution must evolve an agile and competent civil service that will help it midwife its lofty dreams to fruition.
Next year August 8, the auguries of the Raila’s win will speak of a brighter future for Kenya and Kenyans. I have a premonition that immediately he is declared President-Elect, the shilling will firm up against the dollar while the capital market will record gain. I believe that the outlook for our economy will be even brighter with Raila as President.
Therefore, I congratulate Raila, CORD and Kenyans for the success of the broom revolution that will free them from the shackles of perpetual slavery and kakistocracy.
