By Mo Jibril
He rode on an ODM wave to recapture his seat, but that’s where the party ended for Mr Keyna, a man who is now clutching on to straws in a bid to survive politically. Nevermind that even back then, in 2013, after pocketing a cool 60 million shillings from the President, the legislator had to ditch Jubilee after he proved to be no match for the political winds that swept through Wajir.
A closer look at recent events paints a picture of a man under siege. In what is now the political equivalent of a ‘checkmate’ Wajir County Governor Jiir is making life hard for Keynan. Governor Jiir’s popularity is giving Keynan lots of sleepless nights as he contemplates a future without the trappings of power that come with being a Jubilee-friendly legislator.
It’s therefore not surprising that the extremely unpopular Keynan absconded the ODM NGC at Bomas. Sharing the stage with his political arch-nemesis who happens to have the PM’s ear was just too much for the erratic legislator who is all but staring at involuntary political retirement.
The walkout during Mashujaa day was a telltale sign that the ground is toxic and it further pulled the curtain on the loser’s dwindling political fortune. How will Jubilee evaluate a such political loser when what is supposed to make him politically attractive is no more?
To make matters worse, ODM’ s deputy party leader and a confidante of Governor Jiir, THE Emir himself, Governor Hassan Joho, read the dreaded Riot Act to the beleaguered lawmaker!
On a more depressing and shameful note, this is the lawmaker who came up with a piece of legislation aimed at removing titles like ‘His Excellency’ and flags from County Governors! Of all the problems bedevilling North Eastern region, one of the region’s most vocal legislators, decided to tackle the most idiotic ‘issue’ known to mankind!
With that kind of thinking, is there any wonder as to why this guy is facing his political nadir? Fare thee well Mr, North Eastern and certainly ODM ONE will not miss you.
