DESPERATE JUBILEE GOES TO THE WELL IN AN APPARENT ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT
By Jackson Omondi
Unless one has been living under a rock, the fact that Governor Joho is a marked man should now be public knowledge. The constant gimmicks being deployed by Jubilee in a desperate attempt to contain the Governor are also prime material for a course on how not to fight a political opponent.
But today’s assassination attempt definitely caps the clown calvacade that has seen Joho’s political star shoot to the stratosphere.
The sorry excuses being peddled around are just downright ridiculous. “Governor Joho was going to endorse Ochillo Ayacko on Governor Obado’s turf and that’s a political no-no…,” goes one argument! So What? Governor Joho as ODM’ s number two has every right to endorse any ODM Candidate anywhere in the Republic of Kenya. The last time I checked, Governor Obado belongs to PDP as such, he has little latitude on matters ODM.
And since Joho and company never got a chance to do what took them to Migori, Governor Obado /mind reader adjudged Joho as disingenuous and instructed his security to fire live bullets at the Sultan’s convoy. One will be hard pressed to find a plausible rationale for firing live bullets at ‘your’ deputy party leader.
Interestingly, this is the same Governor who led a group of Migori residents to Statehouse for the infamous “luo pilgrimmage.” It’s therefore not surprising that the first bullets aimed at the embattled Governor had to be fired in Migori!
Adding one plus one has never been this easy and the political tea leaves can be traced in a very clear manner. Endorsements should never scare any politician worth his salt. Especially one with a five-year record to run on. I find it very hard to believe that a statehouse-friendly Governor whose very election as Governor defied odds in luo land, was so scared of a political endorsement to an extent that he had to resort to throwing a fit of pique!
Give us another line. Governor Joho is now larger than life. Thanks in part to Jubilee’s incredible political bedwetting and unnecessary saber rattling, Joho is now a household name. His constituency stretches way beyond the coastal region and quite frankly, keeping him safe is purely in the interest of the government and to be honest, national comity.
He is now up there with the enigma. But it appears that some trigger-happy elements are clearly oblivious about this political reality and are working in concert with some busybodies to take him out. The era of taking out leaders of this calibre is long gone. Try making good on those threats and watch little kids in all Madrasas across the country immortalize Joho in an unprecedented clinic in indoctrination with far reaching consequences for the republic.
