Deputy President William Ruto will oversee the repeat of Jubilee Party primaries scheduled for Monday and Tuesday next week.
The party said this on Saturday after discussions on mishaps that saw the polls cancelled on Friday over massive flaws.
President Uhuru Kenyatta earlier apologised for the chaos witnessed during the party primaries in 21 across the country.
The President said the party had called off the nominations after they realised they had not prepared enough.
He said the high voter turnout experienced in the 21 counties overwhelmed the ‘underprepared’ officials.
The nominations were marred by chaos, long delays, insufficient ballot papers, missing names and general confusion.
“Nobody expected the kind of turnout we saw yesterday and that is how the shortage came in.”
However an insider with Jubilee party secretariat explained how the cartels basically statehouse operatives messed up the nominations;
“Let me tell you what transpired yesterday, enough ballot papers were printed but cartels where in charge of the process and what they did was simple…….
For example in a constituency with 50,000 registered voters they printed 40,000 ballot papers for Parliamentary nominations. They divided the ballot papers between their preferred candidate and voters, their candidate will tick the 20,000 in his favour and distribute to his cronies to stuff the ballot boxes in different polling stations as they vote and the remaining 20,000 ballot papers was to be distributed to polling stations and used during actual voting. In the end as the counting starts their candidate starts with 20,000 votes and even if he gets 3,000 in the actual election the guy will still win with 23,000 votes. Same for Senate, Governor, Women Rep etc…
The same guys will still attempt to steal using the same method but this time they will get away with it because no one will postpone nominations citing IEBC deadline……dawa ni mlolongo or else we will have the highest number of independent candidates this coming elections.”
“We took the difficult decision to cancel all the nominations to avoid subverting a democratic process,” he said.
The nominations will be conducted in all the 45 counties where the party is fielding candidates.
Secretary general Raphael Tuju said Friday’s experience will be used to plan primaries in counties yet to hold polls.
