President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked the Supreme Court judges who nullified his election to “explain it” to him but the persons who should be doing that are the lawyers he hired to represent him at the Supreme Court.
Uhuru’s angry outbursts and failure to grasp the ruling is testament to the poor legal advice he has received throughout the proceedings of the Supreme Court.
The President was represented by Senior Counsels Fred Ngatia, Ahmednasir Abdulahi and Lucy Kamburi. He also benefited from IEBC lawyers who maintained the election was free, fair, credible and verifiable. This group was composed of Paul Muite (SC), Paul Nyamodi, Kamau Karori and Issa Mansur.
President Uhuru also had his case pushed by Attorney General Githu Muigai.
All these people should have a daily session with President Uhuru to explain to him the ruling. Sadly, many have joined the usual Jubilee deplorables on social media spaces and are actively denigrating the persons of the Supreme Court judges.
Even more egregiously, these quack lawyers continue to mislead President Uhuru that there is something he can do to overturn the judgement. There is nothing he can do and the case is dead.
While President Uhuru’s academic background is shrouded in mystery and secrecy, a stint at Amherst University should naturally allow him to comprehend the interpretation of the judgement.
Judges and magistrates don’t ordinarily explain their judgement or rulings to parties that appeared before them beyond the reasoned decisions they produce on the bench. What President Uhuru seems to demand is for the Supreme Court Judges who nullified his election to visit him at State House with charts, crayons and diagrams.
Won’t happen.
