The self-righteous people criticising us for severing links with NASA over the handshake debacle should style up. The claim that all politicians are evil and therefore we should not feel betrayed when they misbehave is deeply flawed. If that were the case there would never be any point of participating in the political process as the outcome would be negative.
We have perfected the art of blaming victims. If your spouse starts sleeping around or being violent would you be happy if people start telling you that you should have seen it coming or that you made wrong decision when choosing life partner? That is nonsense. You trusted someone and they betrayed you.
Politicians should hold public trust with great sense of responsibility knowing too well that trust is like virginity which once broken can never be recovered. It is heartbreaking to see adults making excuses for politicians engaging in thuggery, trickery and conmanship.
This country will get nowhere if we continue having low standards for politicians. Any small good act by a politicians is treated like a miracle and their evils excused in the name of politics is a dirty game. What kind of crap is this?
Unless those who break laws are made to serve time in jail we will never progress. People want victims of post-election violence compensated instead of asking for their killers to be arrested and prosecuted. What will prevent people from being killed in future if the only consequence is a few shillings in compensation?
Our cause has always been one against economic mismanagement and bad governance. Raila Odinga never was and never will be our cause. For a short time Raila was a symbol of the struggle; he was not the struggle.
I started criticising Jubilee in 2013 and only supported Odinga in mid 2017 after the formation of NASA. That was my first time to support him in the history of our politics and he has disappointed big time. Odinga joining Jubilee can never be decoded by us as an invitation to surrender to thugs.
When Jubilee leadership says it is tired of politics what they are saying is that they are tired of being held to account. Uhuruto are only angered by politicking when it is about them being called to account over bad governance and corruption.
We have normalised the treatment of politicians as gods and soon this country will go to the dogs. Politics without consequences will lead to a country without a destiny.
