Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is on his way to the provincial headquarters to record a statement after armed men were dispatched to his house.
County spokesman Richard Chacha said the armed men were sent to Joho’s Nyali home but that “their intentions are not clear.”
It was not clear who the men were and who had sent them.
This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta gave Joho a verbal thrashing when he visited Mombasa on Monday.
Uhuru said Joho was following him around as if he (the President) was his wife.
He said once again that Joho had done nothing for the people and was only hanging on to the national government’s coat.
Joho was also blocked from attending Uhuru’s Mtongwe ferry services launch and was reportedly placed under office arrest until the President left.
The Governor claimed GSU officers acted on instructions from Uhuru yet all he wanted to do was represent his people and raise their concerns.
