I know it’s unpopular opinion but this must be said for the record, and it must be said in brutal honesty. Let the record reflect that it was said so.
Retired Chief of General Staff Samson Mwathethe has built a multi million Church in his home area, Kilifi.
A few days ago I castigated Kilifi Governor for not championing for the creation of Makorosho and Coconut factories. Kilifi County has one of the poorest communities in the country. People are so poor, that the only other engagement that has remained for them to undertake is witchcraft and sex as a form of entertainment (high HIV prevalence and high number of pregnancies).
Lack of ROBUST economic activities has resulted into idleness and hence witchcraft and unmatched sex.
These people need help. They need help in education and creating jobs and any other economic activities that will give them money.
They don’t need a CHURCH. They don’t need multimillion churches build for them. Give them jobs. Anything that will create economic empowerment is what they need. We already have enough churches. African is impoverishing because we are too much into religion we forget that our poverty will be eliminated not by more churches, but by being more creative, thinking and economic empowerment. Building of churches is not economic empowerment. Witchcraft and HIV are prevalent in Kilifi not because there are no churches. This is a lie. They are prevalent because of POVERTY. Tuambiane ukweli jameni. Till when are we going to hide behind religion hoping to transform our societies?
China didn’t build more churches. They even worship cows etc etc. China invested in INNOVATION, THINKING, TECHNOLOGY, MORE FACTORIES etc. They don’t even know what a church is. But they have risen from a poor country to a superpower with millions of millionaires who don’t even know what a church is. They are now funding Africa who are busy building churches. We must be brutally honest.
Investing MILLIONS to build a church in an EXTREMELY POOR neighborhood that needs jobs and economic empowerment is INSULTING a generation. It’s unpopular but it’s the truth

Leave the general alone to enjoy his retirement in peace. You can go n tell it to the birds. Who appointed you his financial advisor anyway?

It not his prerogative to build factories, schools or hospitals for the community. Sometimes people do things in memory of loved ones or to keep a promise made to someone
Don’t you think, that now we are comparing China with Kenya, the government should put a law for people not have more than 3 children. That will also help eradicate poverty.

Religion is the opium of the masses.Been in the know of these people, what the general has done is just to keep his name alive after his death. It’s a wrong move for the people who are economically down. The illiteracy levels are also high. Kilifi has a high poverty level.Kwa hivyo kanisa haitawatoa kwenye umaskini but just boost their esteem.
He would have built a hospital or a school or even market shades.Hapo hajacheza.
