Mr Philip Etale the director of communications at the Orange Democratic Movement who was arrested at 1 am today from his hotel room in Malindi, has been freed following a standoff between CORD supporters and helpless police.
Mr Etale was picked from his room by about 20 police in both uniform and civilian clothes. Three officers led by Malindi OCPD accompanied by one inspector kiprono and two others moved into Etales room as others waited outside.
He was then driven away in a convoy of three cars. Mr Etale was locked at a police station next to the Kilifi Governors office where the officers confiscated his communication gadgets including mobile phones and laptops.
Etale has been freed and is now a free man monitoring the ongoing Malindi by-election but word from has it that he has instructed his lawyers Messirs Edwin Sifuna and Antony Moturi Orwochi to prepare suit papers, he is likely to sue the state for WRONGFUL DETENTION. In Malindi his case is being handled by senior counsel james Orengo, Ababu Namwamba and Millie Odhiambo- all well known seasoned advocates.
