BREAKING: Raila Begins FOUR-DAY Tour of Western Kenya

CORD leader Raila Odinga today began his four-day, three county tour of Western Kenya where he will address county specific social, economic and political issues. During the four-day tour, Raila will also hold meetings with ODM grassroots leaders in the three counties.’

The former PM arrived in Vihiga this morning for a two-day visit and will use the opportunity to draw attention to social and economic issues like education, the plight of are maize and small-scale tea and coffee farmers who have been hit by poor seeds and low-quality fertilizers, unemployment and border conflicts in addition to the effects of national economic policy like increased taxes on petroleum products on struggling rural populations.

Raila began his tour earlier today with a meeting with ODM delegates and grassroots leaders in Vihiga County. During the entire tour, Raila will also make a pitch for strengthening of devolved units and cooperation between neighbouring counties to enable them benefit from economies of scale. He will also emphasize the need for county governments to pursue prudent use of resources at their disposal.

In addition to Vihiga, he will also visit Kakamega and Busia counties.
