Thousands of NRMKe ‘general’ Miguna Miguna have taken to the streets of Kondele, Kisumu, to protest his continued detention at Jomo Kenyatta airport in Nairobi.
The group, which started arriving in smaller numbers at around 10am, began by pushing huge rocks onto the Kisumu-Kakamega road forcing traffic to use alternative but longer routes.
They chanted “No Miguna, No peace, No Handshake!” and carried placards demanding justice for the reknown international barrister/lawyer.
Old tyres were set on fire with some protestors wearing T-shirts with labels of “resist”, a slogan marketed by Dr Miguna to promote defiance against Jubilee government.
Dr Miguna had been deported to Canada last month but returned on Monday following a court order authorising his re-entry into Kenya. He is currently being at JKIA in a toilet without food, water and food. He has also been denied access to a lawyer, family and a doctor.
His lawyers are currently at the high court appearing before Justice George Odunga for further orders.
