How corrupt City Hall Union Workers solicited for a bribe
Details have emerged on how Nairobi branch County Government Workers Union officials attempted to solicit for a bribe of Sh1m from Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko so as not to call a workers’ strike over delayed September salaries.
The workers union Secretary General Benson Olianga and union Chairman John Murioki were arrested on Tuesday by EACC detectives and are expected to face bribery charges.
It has now emerged that the two workers officials had even sent to the governor their bank account details where the bribe was to be deposited before they could betray their fellow workers.
The two Olianga and Murioki were arrested by EACC detectives while acting on a tip off for demanding the bribe to call off a planned Nairobi county workers strike.

Sonko has declared City Hall a corruption free zone and he has promised to break all land and corruption cartels that existed during the reign of Evans Kidero.
“ When I said that there shall be no corruption during my era I meant it and be warned, if your work is to siphon Nairobi County resources for your own selfish needs and for your deep pocket, you better quit before the long arm of the law catches up with you,” said Sonko after the arrest of the two.
