All is not well in the Jubilee camp as leaders have started pointing fingers at each other in the wake of the Jubilee party embarrassing defeat at the Nyangores ward by election defeat in the hands of rebel Governor Isaac Rutto’s Mashinani Development party in Bomet county.
Nominated Senator Hon Emma Mbura is the latest leader who has taken to social media to voice her disapproval as to how the party is running its affairs. The senator blatantly blamed the statehouse comptroller Lawrence Lenayapa as the source of a rift between the MPs and the president on her official Facebook account “Mekatilili Muche Jeri” today morning following Jubilee’s dismal start to the Malindi parliamentary seat campaigns.
The Malindi JAP candidate was pictured waving at empty streets in what had been planned as a grand “Meet the People Tour” shortly after being cleared by the IEBC on Monday morning. Also the fleet of buses seen at the JAP rally that were ferrying people from other constituencies showed the party’s inability to mobilise people from within Malindi constituency despite some MPs given millions for mobilisation .
Sources within the JAP campaign team in Malindi have blamed the mess on “political brokers” who have teamed up with Lenayapa and barricaded the president, preventing other leaders from accessing Uhuru Kenyatta as pointed out by Hon Mbura.
The sources say that the political brokers are said to have taken control of the campaign resources and diverting the funds for their personal use. The JAP candidate Phillip Charo campaign team has been seen moving around using tuktuks and motorcycles while CORD rebel Gideon Mung’aro and Mustaffa Iddy campaign teams are moving around town in Toyota Prados chewing khat at ten in the morning.
Earlier this year in a press conference, the local TNA officials in Malindi disapproved the use of Gideon Mung’aro to head the JAP campaigns saying Mung’aro failure to resign from ODM should be viewed as proof that the MP’s loyalty still lies within ODM. Several of these officials have refused to join the new outfit Jubilee Party and moved to New Kanu.
