THINGS FALL APART AS JUBILEE’S CIVIL WAR BEGINS
By Jackson Omondi
Name-calling, trash-talking and misogynistic undertones cued in Jubilee’s civil war. Fighting out of the red corner, sporting a devastating right hand and a penchant for eternal trash-talking, is the deputy President of Kenya! His opponent is capsuled in the mother of all teflons, buoyed by a comfortable buffer (the presidency) and a whole community ready to teach the bellicose DP a political lesson, her speed and finesse is crippling.
The proxy wars are over. It’s now time for the long knives and the DP’s gauntlet has been gladly picked by Madam Waiguru. That the DP chose to throw direct salvos at the former CS – and actually mentioned her by name – means that it’s an all out war. And it is a war that the DP will definitely lose.
It’s politically naive to assume that Waiguru is acting alone. In fact, in her, the enterprise has seen the mythological Trojan horse and they are playing it to the end. The enterprise is using her to make the DP uncomfortable and judge how he handles the choreographed political mutiny. And so far, he is failing in spectacular fashion!
His dismissive response to Waiguru and the unfortunate word choice reinforced the long-held views that he is extremely belligerent and unfit for the enterprise’s votes. References to “kizungu mingi ” and “catwalk” were not only a harbinger of how a “President Ruto” would deal with female opposition but also rubbed alot of women the wrong way. He could have responded to Waiguru without engaging in colourful language but he chose to channel his inner Donald Trump.
The enterprise now knows whom they are dealing with. But a peep down memory lane reveals that Waiguru’s ‘resignation’ was the most choreographed event since tapdancing. Statehouse honchos wrote and executed the script, nothing happened by accident and therefore, anything that she does must be viewed from that very prism. This war is not a WSR-Waiguru bout, it’s a WSR-UK battle.
All the talk about unity is nonsense. The schisms are out in the open and these battles will only intensify as the suspicion hits higher decibels. WSR is confronting the forces that pull the levers in the republic of Kenya. The political chess game is no longer thrilling and they can’t wait to dump the political poseur.
What more are we going to hear? Are we going to know who pocketed the Eurobond proceeds? Will the honorable former CS spill the beans on that too? With the DP diving straight to the deep end with his declaration about the NYS scandal, is he going to ” keep it real like a stepson” and tell us more?
The Deputy President of the republic of Kenya is openly engaging in verbal warfare with a very powerful former civil servant while some of their supporting casts are also out there spoiling for a brawl. As Cordashians, this is music to our ears because we have waited forever to see any solid action being taken on the war on graft and if this is the Jubilee way of getting to the bottom of weighty issues, we are more than happy to watch from the sidelines. Fight on!
