For those who may not be aware, DP Ruto has commissioned his son Nick to test waters countrywide while keeping his eyes in Nyanza region by reaching out to the young people on his father’s behalf ahead of 2022 elections. Nick Kipkurgat Ruto is one of his sons who are doing great things at very young age.
Nick’s first stopover was over the weekend in Siaya at a Catholic church located in Rarieda where together with his friends they carried out a harambee which raised nearly a million. It is reported that they have plans to visit Homa Bay and Migori counties, and the rest of the country.
Most of the visits he’ll be doing will be mojorly donations in Churches while his messages will be targeting youths. This is a replica of what is happening in developed world where children from such families are expected to give back to the community while solving societal problems. If for example, Nick meant well for the people of Nyanza, he would be concentrating on the common epidemics facing the people from that region. But I will give it to him for leaving his comfort zone and do something for his father’s ambitions even if the source of the monies he will be generously donating is not known.
I know for DP Ruto his son Nick is the right pick for this mission since he has not caused many troubles like him(Ruto Senior) who abuses everyone. His wife Rachel tried reaching out to women through table banking but failed because one, she did not stay focused on her goals. And two, she would rather go praying at blackspots instead of asking her husband to push for stringent measures to curb road carnage. Rachel also lost it when she would organize for prayers across the country instead of telling the husband to stop stealing from public coffers.
Though not a prophet but soon you will see Uhuru’s son(s) or daughter out there doing the right thing either in total silence or in full glare of the cameras. His son once tried but it looked like a set up that was done by Ruto.
I don’t know what other politicians’ children are having in the offing but they should learn to get out of twitter and reach out to the young people or those they think they should reach out to. You see how Ivana(Ivanka) Marie Trump is fighting for her father or how Melanie Trump is doing the right thing for the husband?
Power is protected by close family members. I don’t want to reveal the role Margaret Kenyatta played in pre handshake or what she did when the country was almost crumbling in the first tenure of her husband, but I hope you all remember how Margie got out of her comfort zone to run for a course she did not truly believe in even if the monies raised were never accounted for.
Let me bring it probably closer to you. What is your Governor’s son(s) or daughter(s) doing to protect power? I know a governor’s son from Nyanza who runs a militia group to instil discipline to those causing trouble to his loving dad. At the ‘scene’ I’m told he commands the militia group by issuing orders, sometimes he would be spotted doing the attacks.
How about that deputy governor from Western region whose son is smoking weed in his official car? It is a medicine they say. Anyway, it’s upto them.
A friend reminded me over the week that one of the most successful politicians we have in Kenya today was very troublesome in his hay days. That the man did not wait to be of age to start causing troubles. He didn’t check his background either.
The future belongs to young people who are striving today to make change. It doesn’t matter where you come from just stand up, leave your comfort zone like Nick Ruto and do the right thing.
