A reliable source privy to the ‘behind-the-scenes’ of the ongoing negotiations between Statehouse (Uhuru) and Capital Hill (Raila CORD secretariat) has revealed that Uhuru and Raila had prity much agreed on the structure of a five man (each side) committee that will manage exit of the current IEBC commissioners.
The source indicated that challenges emerged when a member of the parliamentary committee on budgeting flagged up a budget line of Kshs 6 billion that is meant for fake IDPs.
Top Statehouse operatives are said to have warned that they cannot afford another financial scandal while Eurobond and Waiguru’s NYS scandals are still fresh in the minds of Kenyans.
“Hii kitu ni moto bwana, we cant allow another ugly expose on this kind of reckless improprieties, we started off by paying James Bond’s ghost Anglo Leasing suppliers, we have been accused of issuing a fresh tenders for Kibaki Raila big LAPSSET infrastructureprojects including the SGR prompting exit of Uganda and Rwanda, we simply cannot afford another scandal. Let Kenyans forget Waiguru first please, do something to make sure this is not picked up by media”- senior statehouse operatives was overhead warning treasury CS Henry Rotich.
It emerged that sometimes early this year, the DP Ruto hosted IDP representatives in his Karen home/office to update on the final resettlement program where a total of Kshs 1,052,000,000 was to be released and he had this to say
“From tomorrow, these monies will be available in the IDPs’ bank accounts and we expect that by Monday no one will be remaining in the camps and all they will all be closed,” the DP assured.
Well, in this week’s budget estimates presented by CS Rotich, a total of Kshs 6,000,000,000 was set aside for final IDP resettlement.
That raised eyebrows as opposition MPs were heard questioning, what exactly is the meaning of the word FINAL? This was the source of the drama. Most MPs whenever they spot mulfunction is government they raise the issue with an aim of being bought.
