On SGR.
As a NASA supporter, I wish to congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta as he is set to Launch the SGR tomorrow.
Personally, I wasn’t against the Idea of SGR and I thank Eng. Hon. Dr. Raila Odinga for his foresight knowledge that Kenyans needed the project.
I had hoped that the over 500,000 Cubic yards of Concrete and 100,000 tons of steel used in the project would have been sourced locally, hence creating the much needed Jobs for the Kenyan people.
As the huge project comes to an end, I am disappointed that it created more Jobs in China and to the Chinese than in Kenya and to the Kenyans, as 94% of the raw materials used in the project was sourced in China.
I am also sad that rather than put Dry ports in parts of Kenya that are in dire need of economic empowerment like Ukambani, Jubilee chose to locate the Dry Port in the Land of the President’s family in Naivasha.
I would have preferred for their appreciation, that the Chinese Contractor build a school in Kiambu or Othaya, than pulling down and rebuilding a the multi-billion house for Uhuru Kenyatta in Nairobi as they are doing now.
All in all, the child has been born. I would have liked the Child to be born at Nairobi hospital and not in London to save the family some money, but I celebrate the Child anyhow-though the financial obligation of this unnecessary excessive spending will linger with the family for decades to come.
I hope that the launch is successful and that all the 15 head of states and dignitaries invited for the launch show up.
And yes we hear that after the launch, the first commercial services of SGR will actually be on 01/01/2018, We congratulate Uhuru anyway.
Congratulations Mr. President for both the new house and SGR. Kenyans can at least now take a holiday and see some Chinese serving in SGR hence promoting Local Tourism.
