FLY 748 RETURNS TO THE SKIES AS DOMESTIC AIR TRAVEL DEMAND SURGES IN KENYA

Date:

Kenya’s aviation sector has received a fresh boost after Fly 748.com officially resumed scheduled passenger operations, marking a major comeback for the airline at a time when domestic air travel is rapidly gaining momentum.

The airline relaunched its services on May 1, 2026, with its maiden return flights taking off from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Mombasa and Ukunda. The move signals a renewed push to tap into growing demand for fast, reliable travel across the country.

Fly 748’s return comes as Kenya experiences a shift in travel patterns, with more people turning to air transport due to increased business activity, government travel, and a packed calendar of conferences, cultural events, and tourism activities across counties. The airline is positioning itself to meet this demand with a focus on efficiency, affordability, and reliability.

Speaking during the relaunch, Fly 748.com Head George Oduor said the airline is leveraging its experience in complex aviation environments to build a structured and dependable scheduled service. He noted that lessons drawn from humanitarian and last-mile operations have shaped how the airline approaches scheduling, operational control, and consistency.

The initial routes to Mombasa and Ukunda will serve as a foundation for expansion, with the airline planning to gradually increase frequencies, deploy larger aircraft, and open new domestic and regional routes in response to market demand.

748 Air Services Chairman Ahmed Jibril

748 Air Services Chairman Ahmed Jibril said the airline’s return is expected to enhance connectivity to the Coast, making travel more convenient for both business and leisure passengers. He emphasized that the airline aims to serve a wide range of customers, including business travelers, families, tourists, and government officials, all seeking dependable air transport.

The company is also introducing a customer loyalty program designed to reward frequent flyers, as part of efforts to build long-term relationships with passengers and regain trust in the market.

Managing Director Moses Mwangi said the airline is committed to scaling its operations strategically, starting with a controlled rollout of routes before expanding capacity and exploring regional opportunities. He added that while the airline grows its scheduled services, it will continue maintaining its humanitarian aviation role, which has been a core part of its identity.

Industry observers say the relaunch could play a key role in boosting domestic tourism and trade, especially in underserved regions. With counties increasingly opening up for investment and events, demand for quick and efficient travel options is expected to remain strong.

Fly 748’s revamped offering includes improved scheduling, streamlined booking processes, and enhanced customer experience standards aimed at restoring passenger confidence. The airline says its goal is to make air travel more accessible while maintaining high operational standards.

Backed by over three decades of aviation experience, 748 Air Services is now betting on consistency, reliability, and strategic growth to reclaim its place in Kenya’s competitive domestic aviation market.
