I wish to congratulate you and your team for beating Chelsea. That for sure was a huge feat!
I did not watch the match so I don’t know what happened: Chelsea is always expected to beat Arsenal comprehensively because that is how it is. It is the tradition. It is the norm. That is just how things are: Chelsea, the 2012 Champions of Europe are expected to beat Arsenal comprehensively.
But we live in a world where certain things defy logic. Only last weekend, some small team beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp. Who would believe that I did not watch the Arsenal V Chelsea match? Well, it can all happen when logic takes leave, expectations, norms, traditions become qualifications, when a goat bites a human and the fiction that is George Orwell’s animal farm is enacted in real life and pigs chase humans out of their farm!
But I want to posit that such stuff should happen in the world to enable us appreciate God better. It is a Sunday!
For example, why shouldn’t Arsenal also beat Chelsea occasionally? Isn’t Wenger a child of God? Aren’t the Arsenal players also children of God? are the multitudes of long suffering Arsenal fans children of a lesser God?
God loves us all and all of us whether talented as the Chelsea players or not talented, tall or dwarf, poor or rich, fat or thin, are all equal in the eyes of God.
I am unable to analyze what could have happened because I didn’t watch the match. I can’t explain why Hazard or Costa or Fabregas could not score. I can’t tell how Cahill, Terry, Luiz, Ivanovic, Azpilicueta and Courtois let Sanchez, Walcott and Ozil the chance to score.
But I understand that if the Arsenal family prayed hard, fasted, tithed and believed in God, the almighty must have given them the supernatural powers that he gave to David and Daniel of the Bible.
Someone like me who has been watching football for twenty years now knows that a league match is like a battle. Winning a battle is not the same thing as wining a war: you can ask Adolf Hitler if you ever meet him. Right now, Chelsea has similar or Perhaps better chances of winning the league than Arsenal.
Arsenal will still come to Stamford bridge this season. They beat us by three goals to nil in a match pundits tell me was dominated by Chelsea, a fact that underscores the fact that Arsenal’s unlikely victory was a modern day Davidian miracle!
I am not sure they will repeat that unlikely feat at Stamford bridge. All I am sure about is that on more than one occasion, Chelsea has beaten Arsenal by six goal margins. It can happen again, it will for sure happen again.
For now, I will let you celebrate, taunt and ridicule me and tag me as many times as you wish to those not so funny memes.
Happy weekend!
