Kenya sham coerced balloting
By Ndung’u Wainaina
There is now incontrovertible evidence of results manipulation in October 26, 2017 Kenya repeated polls which has globally been described as preposterous flopped charade of election. The results being announced by electoral body, IEBC, do not match the real turn out. This was not an election. It was a coerced balloting.
Further, Wafula Chebukati, IEBC chair initially gave turn out percentage of 48% but could not explain the source. He quickly changed that to 34%. He further said that only 50 Constituencies out of 291 fully opened with 35564 polling stations being active. All this has changed at the national tallying center with strange results being announced even in place where voting hardly reached 1%. Globally the turnout has been put at 24-27%.
Significantly there is now body of evidence of election officials been coerced to change results and also massive Form 34As with doctored results are in circulation.
Contrary to narrative that coerced balloting only failed to take place in Four Counties of Nyanza, fact is that either no balloting took place( boycotted) or turnout was hardly 1% in the following Counties in Kenya: Busia, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kitui, Kisii, Nyamira, Narok, Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Wajir, Mandera, Garissa, Vihiga, Kakamega, Nairobi, Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Bungoma and Homa Bay, Samburu, West Pokot, Turkana and Trans Nzoia
This repeat coerced balloting is more fraudulently than August 8, 2017. It cannot withstand legality and legitimacy test. It cannot confer consent to govern to whoever the winner will be declared. This coerced balloting cannot buttress any claim to anyone as the country’s rightful, legitimate leader.
A government without legitimacy and consent to govern is very dangerous to already highly divided (politically and ethnically) and warring Kenya society.
A political decision has to be reached on how to conduct a legitimate and democratic election with widest acceptance if Kenya is to avoid political, economic and ethnic melt down.
