Our colleague Walter Menya was arrested in the most callous way. He was trapped by a man he had known as a source who asked to meet and have tea in town.
Unfortunately Walter was at Metropolitan hospital in Buruburu and the man identified as Korros, volunteered to meet him there. At the hospital they had a chat with the man for some few minutes before he was accosted by cops who demanded that they go to his house. When he refused to show them his residence, he was assaulted then bungled into another car where they offered him a newspaper.
Inside the paper there was 20000 shillings in an envelop. After taking pictures they headed straight to CID headquarters. At one time, one cop casually threatened to ‘malizia’ him at Karura forest.
The pictures of Walter was conveniently leaked to Hon Moses Kuria and Jubilee bloggers led by one Pauline Njoroge who posted them online after breaking the story of his arrest. The cops kept moving with a handcuffed Walter around Nairobi from 11am yesterday to midnight when he was eventually booked at Muthaiga police station.
He is currently at Milimani police cells awaiting to be presented in court.
