Teso South MP Mary Emaase Otuch (URP) was arrested in Uganda over illegal registration of Ugandan nationals as voters(importing people to register in Kenya as voters). Kenyan Security agencies are trying to secure her release
It is reported that she joined her groundsmen in Uganda to register foreign nationals voters in her constituency (the illegal voters were also expected to vote for Uhuru Kenyatta), Uganda authorities are reported to have stormed a meeting she had convened and caught red handed complete with IEBC BVR kits registering voters. Her bodygurd was immeditely disarmed and both arrested and are currently held at Mawero police station in Uganda.
Hon Emaase is a close ally of DP William Ruto, her constituency Teso South borders Uganda and locals cross freely to either country. Hon Emaase is part of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaign team in Western region, alongside Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka and Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali.
CORD Leader Raila Odinga recently revealed that he had credible information that the state spy agency NIS was registering Ugandans and Ethiopians as voters in the August polls to facilitate rigging.
President Uhuru Kenyatta responded to the claims saying that the opposition had already sensed an early defeat and was using untruths to create undue hype.
Well, with the arrest of Hon Emaase it is obvious that Raila Amollo Odinga was right and so goes the joke that if the former prime minister tells you your wife is pregnat then better start buying baby cloths….
Kenyan security officials and ambassidor to Uganda are reportedly working around the clock to secure the release of Hon Emaase and her bodyguards.
