Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka today met with Nairobi governor Mike Sonko days after the governor met Nasa leader Raila Odinga and retired president Kibaki.
In a video widely circulated Tuesday afternoon, Kalonzo was received at City Hall by Sonko for talks touching on national issues.
Kalonzo visit comes at a time when Mt Kenya mafia cartels in City Hall have heightened attacks on the governor using mainstream media to peddle propaganda. The former VP praised governor Sonko for making good progress at a very short time and expressed optimism that the governor will succeed in turn around the capital.
The VP urged Sonko to steam ahead with service delivery saying Kenyans were watching keenly and may reward the governor with presidency come 2032 based on his people centred approach of service delivery.
On his part governor Sonko highlighted key activities that have been attained within his eight months stint, he pointed out repossession of Nairobi Dam, improved services at health facilities including Pumwani Maternity home, Mama Lucy hospital and Mbagathi hospital.
Sonko also highlighted the challenges he is facing in garbage collection and drainage and attributed to legal challenges but stressed progress was being made. He admitted the challenges and promised to steam ahead despite the cartels war.
“Our meeting was focused on matters of national importance. We urge Kenyans to shift focus from elective politics and aim at uniting the country and working together for the sake of the country’s development,” Sonko said in a post.
Kalonzo who knows he needs allies rather than making foes has kept his cool and is reaching out to be part of the handshake. The two leaders come from Ukambani
Here is how Sonko captioned a live video of the meeting;
“hosting former Vice-President H.E Kalonzo Musyoka at City Hall.
Our meeting is focused on matters of National Importance.
We urge Kenyans to shift focus from Elective Politics and aim at uniting the Country and working together for the sake of the Country’s Development”.
