KANU’s win in Kericho is very simple and straightforward. The issues are local, which must be handled locally. Any involvement of people perceived to be outsiders would take away the momentum of protest and disaffection.
First, retired President Moi, Opposition leader Raila Odinga and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi MUST KEEP OFF the area. Any sort of physical presence in Kericho might give the locals the impression that they are not the drivers of their own destiny.

Governor Rutto a former close ally of DP Ruto (both served under retired president Moi) is leading the revolt with MP Johanna Ngeno and KANU’s Nick Salat providing reinforcement. They are not just locals, but, they are seen as ‘small’ compared to DP William Ruto. Let the fight be framed as a David and Goliath duel.
Other leaders like Mheshimwa Alfred Keter, Senator Ole Ntutu and Senator Lonyangapou are enough to inject drama and a team support of this otherwise local issue, which means that other Kenyans too have issues and that the Kipsigis are not paranoid.
Gideon Moi and Raila should only provide support ‘secretly’ through monetary contributions and activation of ground networks for Hon Sang the KANU candidate

Political pundits have said that Gideon Moi is no better than William Ruto, infact he is worse. He should keep off since Kipsigis not looking for an alternative BUT just venting their anger. The same applies to Raila, who is in need of need the South Rift vote come 2017. Any perception that he is taking advantage of the local issues may be a turn off and thus derailing Hon Sang’s momentum.
