Dear brothers and sisters. I am just here to remind you what I have always reminded you. And to ask that you share it with at least 10 colleagues.
If the 15-yr jail term for your own Titus Katitu will not teach you anything, then you will have problems. Let me be simple.
DON’T abuse your authority. Don’t just hit anyone you meet in the streets at night on patrol just because you are a police office and the person is not bribing you. You just never know who you are hitting, until its too late. Be professional. Be a smart cop. Which cop slaps a total stranger in this age and era? Every time a police officer get accused in court of hitting someone, I always scan him with my eyes from head to toe. Wondering to myself in which times he is living in and whether he has other better thing he can do.
Before you kick someone, ask yourself, “amenifanyia nini” you as a person.
Don’t be so enthusiastic about your work. Don’t do things as if you are law to yourself. Remember there were many other cops before you. I get amused anytime an officer gets offended nikimwambia anipeleke kotini. Where else do you take law breakers?
Be intelligent. Above all be wise. Think before you act and act well always. Think with the law in mind. Never for a moment think you have a boss-protection and nothing can happen to you. At the hot hour, that boss will just sneak out through the back door. Utamtafuta umkose. You will be on your own. In law we say, superior orders are not a defence.
Remember every human soul you violate is a human being, never abuse them no matter how contemptuous you regard them. Serve this society to your best of ability. And when you feel you don’t need to serve it please leave your job quietly, go and start fish farming and let Kenyans be.
We all found this country here and we will certainly leave it here. Let us not behave as if we are the heartbeat of this nation. We are not.
At the end of the day, remember you have a family that needs you to go home every evening. Remember that. Always.
Have a good day.
