Luyha youth yesterday danced on the streets singing burial songs dedicated to Budalangi MP Hon Ababu Namwamba, the revelations by DP William Ruto that Ababu will join Jubilee seem to have fueled the anti Ababu, anti-Jubilee in Western Kenya.
Kamasasa E reports:>>>>
Just hours after DP Ruto publicly admitting that it’s Jubilee rocking the opposition by sponsoring Ababu to rock ODM, Luhyas took into the streets.
The Luhyas went through Nairobi CBD last evening castigating and ridiculing Hon Ababu Namwamba.
They expressed their disapointment towards their fellow Luhya brother Namwamba through songs and dance.
Translated: ‘It’s over Namwamba. May God protect you as you rest in peace (RIP)’
‘Ababu is cursed’
I suspect this is the Luhya consciousness Ababu has been talking about of late.
Here is how Bungoma based political pundit summarised the relationship between the Luyha and Luo…
“The Bond Between The Luhyia and The Luo is un-breakable. We share more things as communities and have so much in common for someone to put as apart. Luhyias and Luos are Shemejis. We are the only communities in Kenya who intermarry more than any other. Even both Ababu and Otuoma’s mothers are Luos from Alego, Nyi Alego.
We share Lake Victoria, We share out love for football and control the football in Kenya, We share our love for Rugby and we control Rugby in Kenya, We share our love for cricket and we control cricket in Kenya. We even share the major highways from Nyanza and Western to Nairobi.
We are both sugar cane growing communities and any corrupt practices by the government affecting sugar cane farmers affect all the two communities. We even share Kibera in Nairobi and live together in peace. Raila Odinga is even the eighth grandson of Nabongo Mumia, a great Luhyia King who ruled the Wanga Kingdom. Luo and Luhyia unity is simply unbreakable.”
