JAP mints more Reinforcements
Malindi residents’ woes following a poor tourism season might be relieved for one month at least
The Malindi parliamentary race has injected much needed cash to the residents’ lives as various parties scamper across the constituency to consolidate votes for the March 7
The Jubilee team seems to have taken this strategy to the heart as it tries to win over campaigners and voters alike. Winning over these individuals has proved an expensive venture with the ruling party having to resort to minting more cash to win over individuals.
Images are already circulating across social media of a Jubilee operative named ‘Patrick’ believed to be from ODM rebel Gideon Mung’aro’s camp holding freshly minted cash that was used to pay people to attend the JAP rally last Monday. This was confirmed by a dozen of residents from Lango baya and Sosobora who received the new cash to board a local public school bus to attend the rally
Jubilee strategy is proving a little bit efficient when it comes to winning over the politicians after it recently enticed Ganda MCA Stephen Mlanda, Watamu MCA Ibrahim Matumbo, Sokoni ward MCA Lawrence Kilabo and nominated MCA Arafa Baya from bitter rivals ODM. Key local campaigners have switched camp to Jubilee as JAP tries to accomplish an improbable task to win over the ODM stronghold.
Jubilee attempts to win over the people is now proving the uphill task as residents have adopted the famous ‘Kula kwa JAP, Kura kwa ODM’ slogan as they did in the previous general elections. This time, residents have gone further to label the cash as compensation from the government for ruining their tourism sector when they caused a by election weeks into what was arguably the sector’s best performance in the last three years.
While the IEBC might never investigate these cases of voter bribery by the Jubilee government, the outcome of the March 7 by election shall prove whether this despicable tactic shall pay off
