Acreage; 1.78 million acres
What was the Jubilee Promise; “The Jubilee government under its manifesto targets to put 1 million acres under irrigation by 2017. Galana/Kulalu ranch is located in the counties of Kilifi and Tana River”
The Galana-Kulalu Irrigation Scheme produced 10, 90kg, bags of maize per acre instead of 40. Even if the envisaged 40 bags per acre were achieved, simple calculations show that production costs would still be much higher than the revenue. Was the Jubilee flagship project economically viable in the first place?
