The matriarch of Mululu, Mama Hannah Atsianzale Mudavadi breathed her last yesterday in a Nairobi hospital. Condolence to the family
We delayed our condolence message after noting that protocol is always observed in delivering such messages
They begin with that of the president then his deputy then Rayila, and going by rankings in the hierarchy, it takes more than 24 hours, before we hoof eaters, at the bottom of pyramid get an opportunity to convey our message, as well
We also do this in our capacity as in laws of Mululu. Musalia Mudavadi’s wife Tessy, is our daughter here in Likuyani. Her father, the late Mzee Mulama, a retired top cop lived in Likuyani, across River Kipsangui, one ridge away from where DP Dr Ruto fished his own Rachel, a daughter of Mzee Kimetto
Likuyani pride in great daughters who make good wives and anyone prospecting should consider visiting us here. Away from that, mama Hannah’s death is bound to be felt across the country for several reasons
It is impossible to tell Kenya’s story without mentioning the name Mudavadi. The patriarch of the family, Moses Substone Mudamba Mudavadi, who was educated in Alliance High and Leeds University in the UK, is the man who introduced Moi to politics
The late senior Mudavadi worked as an education officer in the Rift Valley and he is the one who pushed Moi to replace the ever drunk Dr John ole Tameno as the representative of the Rift Valley in the colonial Legislative Council (Legco), in 1952
From then, Moi never stopped ascending, until he reached the throne, upon Kenyatta’s demise. He became president and an important/influential political figure in the country’s politics and history, until his demise last year
For giving Moi that position, the valley didn’t leave senior Mudavadi empty handed, they gave him a Kalenjin lady to take to Mululu as his second wife and that’s how Mama Rosebella arrived in Mululu to assist Mama Hannah with the chores
When he became president, Moi also made him minster, first for basic education and latter, minister for local government. Upon his death in 1989, Moi never ceased paying the debt, he made his scion Musalia Mudavadi a minster for supplies and marketing (a queer ministry) when he was only 29
He also made him finance minister and latter, in the dying days of KANU, he was made a vice president. Musalia hasn’t been able to walk very far on his on, since Moi quit active politics
What were we talking about? It is like I am getting lost
Good morning my fellow Southerners!!
