No matter how much they slice and dice it, the Nairobi Governor’s race boils down to CORD vs Jubilee.
The CORD side of the equation was settled eons ago while Jubilee is bracing itself for an epic political bloodbath a.k.a nomination battle.
Governor Kidero has all the time and money to mount a formidable defence of his seat while Jubilee goes to war with itself.
The hullabaloo about performance will not matter because if that were a benchmark, the Jubilee government wouldn’t stand a chance. They have aced the propaganda side of the political ledger but seriously flunked the performance part.
Kidero may not be a great political communicator but who cares? He has the chops to confront any political foe and WIN. Money and organizational prowess will dictate the dynamics of the Nairobi gubernatorial race and on that alone, Kidero has a leg up on competition.
To put things in perspective, save for the Presidency, Kidero occupies the juiciest political office in Nairobi and CORD will not allow Jubilee to take it away. One can almost tell how CORD will frame the contest: ” they have forcefully taken everything from you and now they want to take control of Nairobi county.”
In the end, it comes down to partisan politics and in Kenya, its as simple as CORD vs JUBILEE.
