Kenya as a country has made strides since 1963. Although we have been derailed when it comes to development such as education, health care and our economy generally is stagnant.
The Enigma also known as Agwambo without a doubt has been a force behind some of the key milestones that we have made.
In 2002 we were young but some of us are well aware about that clarion call that he made to unite the opposition against the ruling party KANU which had ruled for 39 years resulting into a serious damage to our country in every area. The Enigma made Mwai Kibaki the third President of this Republic.
In 2003 January Kenyans from all corners thronged Uhuru Park to usher in the beginning of an end to bad economy, joblessness and tribalism. Infact we were voted the happiest nation in the world.
Personally I think Kibaki blew up a chance to end tribalism and unite Kenyans. Fast forward and in 2008 the enigma became the Prime Minister and engineered most road network projects that we see today e. g the Thika Highway.
He also was pivotal in the Constitution making process which eventually saw the birth of a Kenyan made constitution in 2010.
Therefore we cannot underestimate his contributions in Kenya, he’s a statesman. However today I saw a man who is habouring mixed feelings joyful for his contribution to this country and probably sorrowful that some of his dreams have not been realized.
For me and this is my own assessment of the Enigma, it looks as if it’s an end of an illustrious political career. The curtains probably have come down.
Personally I will remember the enigma with nostalgia. He is a great man, he has played his part and now it’s your turn to play yours. Such is life.
