Former Agriculture Cs Mwangi Kiunjuri made allegations that ODM leader Raila Odinga was a key voice behind his most recent political woes.
Addressing mourners during the funeral service of the late Mama Ruth Wanjiku Iraya, in Lari, Kiambu County, Kiunjuri alleged that Odinga was instructing government agencies to go after individuals he did not deem to be in agreement with him.
“We cannot have a law for two kinds of people, the obedient and the disobedient. It cannot be that once I leave that gate, the DCI and EACC will demand my files and bank accounts for scrutiny? Which country are we living in? The person witnessing all this is Raila Odinga,” Kiunjuri alleged.
He insisted that Odinga had taken to isolating individuals that he deemed to be in opposition to the Building Bridges Initiative while he insisted that he was in the quest to uniting the people.
Kiunjuri reiterated his loyalty to Deputy President William Ruto asserting that he was ready to be in the opposition in the event that Ruto failed to succeed Uhuru in 2022.
“I’ll stand firm to the last minute. If DP Ruto is my friend, he will always be my friend. And DP, I will assure you of one thing. You have one general to the end. If you end up in the opposition, I will be with you. If you return to the government, we will still be there,” Kiunjuri vowed.
He also warned the ODM leader and others around President Uhuru Kenyatta against usurping the presidential powers to work to their advantage.
He insisted that the Kenyan politics was more of a relay, where leaders would pass the mantle to other leaders to ensure continuity in the projects that they have started.
Kiunjuri asked that DP Ruto be allowed to have his ten-year reign after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s term comes to an end to continue with the legacy they started together.
