SONKO EXPOSES PARKLANDS LAND GRABBER LEADING TO HIS ARREST
Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko was on Monday engaged in a bitter altercation with suspected land grabber Francis Nyaga Njeru of Frank Logistics.
In an exclusive audio sent to Citizen Digital, Francis Nyaga got into a heated argument with the Nairobi Senator over the demolition of an elderly couple’s house in Parklands Nairobi over the weekend.
Njeru has since been arrested and charged in court over charges of malicious damage to property.
An Irate Sonko accused Nyaga of prying on the innocent and allegedly stealing the land, a move the Senator explicitly said he does not approve of.
In an audio that saw the mention of Nairobi Governor Evan Kidero, Sonko promised to ensure that justice is served to the couple adding that such heinous acts will not happen under his watch.
The Senator alleged that he has all the evidence to prove that the title deed the suspect was holding was fake further threatening to take up the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to look into the matter.
According to Njeru he applied for lease in 2008 in a letter dated December 18, 2008 to the Commissioner of Lands, later, the Nairobi City County issued an Enforcement Notice to stop any further illegal development forthwith and also remove any illegal structures.
Njeru who has since been arraigned before the Nairobi Milimani court senior resident Magistrate Hellen Onkwani over the demolition of a house and property worth Ksh.50million in Westlands, Nairobi has been released on 300,000 shillings cash bail.
The prosecution who came to court under miscellaneous application that sought to detain Njeru for 7 days pending completion of investigation into the matter and preference of charges against him.
The Magistrate however declined to grant the prosecution request on the basis that prosecution improperly served the court documents in that they had no signatures and that there were no proper reasons before court to detain the man.
It is claimed that he took goons who demolished a house whose lease had expired and claimed it had changed ownership.
The case will be mentioned on 9th December 2016 to assess investigation progress and determined whether charges will be preferred against Njeru.
The National Lands Commission and the police had also launched investigations to establish the ownership of the disputed piece of land with NLC set to hold public hearings over the property on Friday.
All the parties are required to produce at least six documents to support ownership including letter of allotment, receipt of payment, leases and title deeds.
