Rift Valley Governors on Monday night held a meeting in Nairobi over the upcoming BBI rally in Nakuru. They later met President Uhuru and pledged to support BBI consulatancy rally at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
The governors drawn from North Rift and South Rift region held discussions ahead of the BBI rally meant to take place in Nakuru.
The meeting was chaired by Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui. Governors from the North Rift region who attended the meeting included; Jackson Mandago(Uasin Gishu), Alex Tolgos(Elgeyo Marakwet), Stanley Kiptis (Baringo), Josphat Nanok(Turkana) and John Lonyangapuo (West Pokot).
Governors; Paul Chepkwony(Kericho), Hillary Barchok(Bomet) and Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia) were also in attendance.
According to sources the governors have agreed to welcome all leaders across the country, who want to attend the meeting slated for March 21 at Afraha Stadium.The county chiefs also vowed to ensure the event presents a platform for residents from tthe Rift Valley region to give their views.
The move by the governors is said to have angered Ruto who had hoped that he could hold a meeting with the governors and issue a press statement. He shocked that the governors including his own Uasin Gishu governor H E Mandago proceeded to meet Uhuru without any reference from him.
