Mondo Ride management has shutdown its kenyan services and ran away with millions of Shillings belonging to taxi drivers.
The providers originated from the Middle East but had their headquarters in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. Much as Uber was welcomed with open arms way back in 2016 and Taxify in 2017, people expected Mondo Ride to receive a similar treatment and alter the way things work here with a sounding impact to the transport sector but the activities seemed more than meets the eye.
Drivers have complained after they realized their service providers were not paying thereby organising a strike before being fed with information that the suppliers had fled the country.
“Buda kuna taxi application imeanguka. Jana imeenda na doh za madere. Like me nawadai 100k ya one month. Inafanyanga corporate business na cash. Iko kama uber so since DEC haijalipa watu. Companies zimewalipa wakahepa na do. Mdosi wao ameenda Dubai. Don’t mention my name.
They have corporates like equity bank, Cyton investments, dstv ,pkf, Nairobi hospital ,liquid telecoms etc. They closed shop when they realised drivers had formed group whatssap and were to match to their offices today. Nataka hii kitu imulikwe.” a mondo driver commented
