Here are the top comments by Kenyans who found it ridiculous a move by Interior PS Karanja Kibicho to airlift police officers with minor injuries from Kisumu to Nairobi.
Kwamchetsi Makokha :>>Nairobi West Hospital. Yes, that’s right. Not Forces Memorial Hospital, which specialises in treating trauma and injuries sustained by guys at the frontline of conflict. Not Kenyatta National Hospital, not even the hospitable Nairobi Hospital. Not St Luke’s Orthopaedic Hospital in Eldoret. You board a chopper, and head straight to Nairobi West Hospital for specialised treatment. These must be very special and private injuries the police suffered in the Monday demonstrations. Quick recovery officers.
Nancy Bensuda:>> Police officers were flown from Kisumu (leaving behind two referral hospitals) and then taken to Nairobi West Hospital, a hospital the level of nyamrerwas in Ahero. Awuoro Jubilee!
Owiti K’Odek:>> The resolve to airlift them was faster than to those who were butchered by AL Shabab a few months ago in El Ade…..awuoro
Michael Otieno:>> At least three companies won million shilling tenders from this. The guys who supplied the bandages, the guys who airlifted them to Nairobi, and Nairobi West Hospital.
Renee Nyakerario Mayaka :>>Just seen the photos of the supposedly ‘injured’ officers that were airlifted to Wilson….
Honestly? Like seriously? I thought we have hospitals, clinics and dispensaries well equipped within Kisumu and it’s environs that could easily deal…Oh wait I forgot PR and theatrics had to get a piece of this too!!
John O. Amollo :>> I waited to see the critically injured officers being airlifted, only to see jovial cops walking out in armslings – what the guys needed could easily have been available at a sub-county facility.
Someone must be desperately trying to rationalise the police brutality.
Michael Okoth :>>>After killing 4 innocent youths in Siaya and Kisumu yesterday for engaging in the anti-IEBC demonstrations, the “critically injured” heroes have safely landed in Nairobi for specialized treatment and a token of appreciation from their bosses for a job well done….
Onyinkwa O: If Manono Manono emerged the next day looking as healthy as a horse after such a ‘kichapo cha mbwa’ at the hands of cops, I shudder to imagine the nature of the ‘kichapo’ that those demonstrators in Siaya and Kisumu subjected those cops who were urgently flown to Nairobi to save their lives to.
Arap Doyo :>>Funny enough, Police officers were flown from Kisumu leaving behind two referral hospitals and then taken to Nairobi West Hospital. Again most of them are senior officers when common knowledge is that Junior officers get deployed in riot situations.
More amusing, of the injured Soldiers, 12 got wounded on the left hand. Who knew Nyanza residents had undergone such a high tech training that teaches how to attack left hands with such high accuracy? 😁
Anwar Sadat: The miracles of Jubilee, or the powers of Machozi….So those police officers, acting on orders from Statehouse to kill Luos, were “gravely injured” on Monday as they shot and killed a disabled man, two women selling vegetables, and one demonstrator. After their ” Injuries” they went home, changed their blood stained clothes, presumably ate, and slept only to be airlifted to Nairobi on Tuesday to be treated in some hospital in Nairobi west. Congratulations to Kenya school of mass. Your alumni, Dennis Itumbi, who I suppose passed his drama and acting course by distinction, is doing an excellent job at the presidency. The levels of drama, acting, and jokes coming from statehouse Nairobi, and that thing called Jubilee digital team is sickening. As we mourn those Luos killed by Itumbi and his masters, we wish those “injured” officers, quick recovery.
Denis Itumbi:>> You know no matter how hard you try. I have nothing to do with airlifting cops
Joseph Niva : Those pics, are a bit of a low point, even propaganda wise. People were killed, and the Govt receives ‘hurt cops’ jamaa wako na elastoplast?
Makodingo Washington: >>About Police Airlifts..I’m a huge fan of PR – after all, life is about PR. You can’t even date if your PR game is “down”. Prof Daniel J. Boorstin is quoted saying: “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some hire public relations officers” However, some PR stunts are just daft. Like the airlift of police officers injured in the Kisumu demonstations (where actual people died and several are in critical condition in local hospitals). Why would you lift Police officers, most of whom had very minor injuries (trust me, if your injury needs elastoplast to cover, it ain’t serious) to Nairobi West Hospital when Kisumu has far more superior hospitals (Aga Khan, JOORF)? With all due respect, who even goes to Nbi West?
Whatever this was meant to achieve, it wasn’t worth it. It wasn’t worth the lives lost in those demos. Just because someone has misguided enthusiasm that demonstrating in front of an IEBC Regional office will somehow send the Commissioners home is no reason to kill them. Ultimately, our Police Officers have to learn better crowd management techniques.
James Bound:> Me think these police men were hurt, can’t u see they have mental disorders caused by being haunted as a result of people they have murdered and maimed
Maurice Kimaya >> How lethal were these Ksm protesters? Injuring almost 30 cops mostly on the hands?
Police should not let themselves to be ‘harmed’ by harmless civilians with no arms.
Onyango Sam:>> WHY ARE THE ONLY SENIOR OFFICERS? senior officers do not interact with protersters during demos, Why?
