Bobby Bobants: “Whoever advised Raila to attend Madaraka day celebration in Nyeri is a genius, that was political master stroke. “Alicheza chini ya maji” as ghetto boys would call it, to expose Jubilee underbelly. Today the real Masters of tribalism in Kenya were exposed, those who believe, Jubilee is their govt and Uhuru their President, anybody else doesn’t matter….” – -.
Velma Kadiori: “When we take power on August 8th, we pledge never to convert a national celebration day into a Luo/Luhya/Kamba or whichever tribe’s cultural festival, using the tax payers money. We will recognise that Kenya has 43 cultures to be celebrated. ..and we shall only speak in either National or universal language….so help us Lord.” –
Esther Karimi: “Whether he talks or not, he remains on top. Just like today, he never talked but he is trending. Whatever was read by president uhuru kenyatta was left on that ground…” –
S J: Today, Kenyans were treated to a tribal cultural event and not the usual celebration of MADARAKA DAY – a day that should ordinarily unite ALL Kenyans and remind us of the ideals of our Nation’s Forefathers and the need to embrace Peace and Unity. These retractive missteps only serve to puncture our decades-held traditions and slow down the progress of Kenya’s long-fought democratic franchise.
Onyango Jnr : Why they refused to let Raila speak…..When Raila was PM, he went to inaugurate Tetu Marathon. While there, emotions ran high among women who attended (who formed majority). I remember after Mumbi Ngaru(among other dignitaries) had spoken, one local lady was handed microphone but immediately broke into ear-piercing screams with tears flowing her eyes, tears that could flood entire Langata. She then shouted “PM Raila, siku ingine ukija huku turetee wanaume wa uko kwenu si kukuja tu kufungua bio”, Raila was a bit shaken, he looked keenly as the lady was wildly cheered on by others who included girls who looked 16 but had children…”Raila, hapa vijana na wazee warifunga kaazi, baridi inatukula mapaja usiku mpaka mgongo inauma. Hata tulisau utamu wa ndoa ama ya kukaa na mzee”, she then yelled loudly like someone surviving a terror attack in westgate. At this point, Raila looked down, looked up, nodded Socratic-ally and proceeded to cut the tape. Fast forward, imagine if they had let Raila speak today only for the women (in the crowd) to start asking him “where are the men we requested you to bring, wako waaaaapi” As you appreciate Jubilee fears….let me ask….what were these men expected to do once they arrived?
