Among the Kenyan elite there’s no Raila die-hard, or Uhuru die-hard, there’s just pesa die-hards. Those elites who follow Uhuru don’t love him, they only hope for govt appointments, and envelopes here and there, evade taxes, win tenders, direct JAP tickets and so on.
Those who follow Raila hope for direct tickets, or want to be seen with Raila so Uhuru can feel jealous and pursue them, and hopefully be brown-enveloped to abandon Raila, and probably state appointments if he wins as is expected in 2017.
Diehard means that you will support Raila or Uhuru even if he fires you. Jakoyo, Orengo or Nyong’o would be diehards if they would graciously accept to not run in 2017, and instead allow some fresh blood in the interest of the movement.
Sonko would be a true diehard, if say he is asked to withdraw from Nai Gov and agrees, without sulking or complaining. That’s what diehard means. It means that ur committed to the cause, and that you’re not about cash, or quid pro quo benefits, but that in that person’s cause u see a journey towards the emancipation and liberation of the Kenyan people.
Waititu knows that so long as he is seen with Uhuru, Kiambu people will listen to him. But dare Uhuru tell them to pay taxes with diligence, not trade with govt, return all the loot, and that he wants fresh blood on JAP tickets, they would all sulk, and call press conferences to rebuke him. So next time u see them say they are willing to die for Raila or Uhuru, ask them these questions.
