In every political struggle there will always be three sides.
1. The militants who do the physical engagement/fight like Dedan Kimathi
2. The boardroom type like Jomo Kenyatta, Tom Mboya
3. The opposers (ngati, colonisers, regime and their sycophants).
When the struggle is over, the boardroom folks become the loudest in claiming how they fought and demonising. number 1. Today if Kalonzo Musyoka explained how he spent nights discussing multpartism and “second liberation” you would think Wahome Thuku who was actually in the streets was an idiot.
The very reason why Jomo Kenyatta would not understand what Dedan Kimathi was doing in the forest is the same reason why Uhuru Kenyatta cant understand what Raila would be doing sitting on the tarmac.
To Uhuru a struggle is a gentleman’s engagement done air conditioned boardroom with pots of tea and hot coffee them come out to address a news conference. Problem is that when Sonko and co slept on the roads in The Hague to demand his release, that was a mature “protest”. But Uhuru is one gentleman whom I truly, honestly like and understand most.
