By bringing back PEV, Uhuru hopes to kill two birds with one stone:
1. Finish Ruto by reminding the Kikuyus that their kins were burnt at Kiambaa Church and other parts of Rift Valley; that they were forcefully evicted from their lands and business in Rift Valley. And in the process prepare the ground for his ultimate rejection in 2022, should Uhuru win a second term.
2. Ignite a euphoria similar to those seen in 2012 and possible eclipse Raila in the race for statehouse.
Yes, Uhuru will succeed in reminding the Kikuyus that the Kalenjines killed them, and by extension Ruto. But he will not succeed in building any euphoria as in 2012.
In 2012, Uhuru portrayed himself as the victim, being bullied by a “powerful” PM bent on eliminating competition to have a free ride to Statehouse.
In 2017, Uhuru is the Bully. Using state resources to intimidate political opponents so that he can continue to steal from Kenyans as the cost of living increases and Kenyans continue to struggle.
On August 8th, as the results of the presidential elections begin to trickle in, Uhuru will be surprised at the silent majority of Kikuyus, even from Central who would have voted for Change. You can’t take Kikuyus for fools, who will only vote for you because they speak the same language as you.
I have never seen any kikuyu use kikuyu to buy milk, or to pay fees, or to pay taxes. Uhuru is mistaken to think Kikuyus are sheep, who will just vote for him because he is a Kikuyu.
We too, as Kikuyus feel the effect of a failed government, and we will vote him out in 2017.
