Baringo South MP Grace Kipchoim dies in hospital after a long illness.
Hon Kipchoim, 56, has been bedridden for months and was sworn into office from her hospital bed.
She did not campaign for her reelection but still managed to trounce her male opponents. She is from the minority Endorois community. In The August 8th polls she garnered 9,299 votes against her closest competitor Charles Kamuren’s (Kanu) 8,905 votes.
“My political journey has not been easy, amid illness. This is God’s making. He makes things work for our good. I am thankful to the electorate for making me proud once more,” Kipchoim told the Standard from her Nairobi Hospital bed after she was declared winner.
